One of the amazing advantages of living in Providence is that at noon on a Sunday one can decide to go to the beach and in less then an hour be sitting by the ocean. This past Sunday I was reminded of this geographic amenity when I went down to Newport. The photo above was taken by my talented friend Stephanie Ewens. The painting is of friends on the rocks, enjoying the sun. Summer is almost here, what amenities are within reach of your city?

Jen Corace’s new show Clementine has made me appreciate how significant precedent can effect one’s art. This particular piece is clearly a modern image yet it is built from a historic precedent that gives great complexity to the image. Even in the simplest of projects precedent can give truth to a form.
Here is Jen’s website.

Providence Pop-up retailer Craftland is selling Gillian Christy Sculpture this Year. Jen Corace did a nice little illustration (above) for the store’s ads.
